Girl group f(x) and boy band Big Bang topped separate live music shows over the weekend.
Five-member f(x) who gave their comeback performance last week with their new title song “Danger,” was crowned the winner on KBS’ music program “Music Bank” aired last Friday.
The girls hugged each other and broke into tears after confirming their first win on a televised stage since making their debut two years ago.
“We thank SM Entertainment family,” said member Victoria but was unable to go on further, filled with tears as the members of 4minute, the runner up that day, comforted them.
“Danger” which is a song that likens a lover boy to the wooden puppet Pinocchio, is an electronic pop dance number from f(x)’s first regular album “PINOCCHIO.”
On Sunday, Big Bang was honored the triple crown on music program SBS’ “Inkigayo” with “LOVE SONG.”
The members were offered two Mutizen Award trophies, including the one they missed last week due to the “Super Concert Wonderful Jeju" that the show launched on Korea’s southern island of Jeju to promote the country.
This is the song’s third consecutive win on “Inkigayo” alone and its fifth victory on televised stage including its wins on KBS “Music Bank” and music cable channel Mnet’s “M! CountDown,” the previous week.
“Thank you so much for giving us this great award. We pass on this honor to our agency and our beloved fans,” Big Bang said in their acceptance speech while all the members jolted into an improvised dance of joy.
As it was also the group’s last time promoting their latest album -- they will now promote themselves in Japan -- the members staged an additional adieu performance which started out with GD&T.O.P.’s song to Seungri’s “WHAT CAN I DO” and solo song by Daesung. On the final stage they all wore a matching red and black suits to sing to “LOVE SONG.”
“LOVE SONG,” which contains elements of modern rock based on an electronica rhythm, is a song that reminisces lost love, from the group's special edition album released early this month.
Other singers that appeared on music stage for both “Music Bank” and “Inkigayo” included SpinEL, X-5, B1A4, A PINK, Girl’s Day, Rainbow, After School, 4minute, CNBLUE, Turtles and Dal★shabet.
