Jazz pianist Keith Jarrett to perform in Korea in June
American Jazz musician Keith Jarrett is coming for his second concert in Korea in early June.
Famed jazz pianist and composer Keith Jarrett will hold his well-known impromptu solo concert at Sejong Center in downtown Seoul on June 2, the official website for the performing arts center stated on Thursday.
The June concert, titled “KEITH JARRETT - An evening of Solo Piano Improvisations,” comes after his previous performance in Korea eight months which he performed as a trio with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Jack DeJohnette, which ended a great success proven by the show ranking No. 1 in terms of admissions among paid concerts held at Sejong Center last year.
His recording engineer will accompany him on his upcoming trip to Korea this time to make an album out of the latest concert.
Jarrett, 66, began to play piano since three and first studied classical music but shifted to jazz during the early 60s, working as composer and performer in several bands.
The turning point of his life came during the late 60s, after his joining legendary U.S. musician Miles Davis’ jazz rock band and Jarrett has since worked with various musicians to create nearly 60 albums, becoming a veteran jazz pianist himself.
For over 30 years Jarret has performed at many prestigious halls around the world including the Carnegie Hall in New York, Royal Festival Hall in London, La Scala Theater in Milano, Philharmonic Hall in Berlin, Concert Gerber Hall in Amsterdam and Metropolitan Festival Hall in Tokyo.
