Kim Hyun-joong, leader of pop idol group SS501, arrived in South Korea on Wednesday after being hospitalized in Japan for a week for the influenza flu.

"Thank you for your concern and support. I will be healthy by the next time I see you," a gaunt-looking Kim briefly said to fans and reporters upon his arrival at Incheon International Airport.

Kim was given a clean bill of health before departing Tokyo but will receive another checkup as a precautionary measure, his management agency DSP Media has said.

The 23-year-old singer had become infected with the H1N1 influenza virus a week ago while on promotion for KBS hit TV series "Boys Over Flowers".

His five-member band plans to resume its preparations for a new album and make TV appearances depending on the progress of Kim's recovery.
