Korean female idols Girls' Generation has topped Oricon's weekly chart with their third full-length album, according to its official website on Tuesday.

Girls' Generation's third studio album, featuring their title track "The Boys," became the top-selling international album on Oricon's weekly chart during the second week of November.

The record had originally entered Oricon's weekly album for international releases in second place after going on sale in the country on October 21.

Meanwhile, Korean singer Kim Hyun-joong followed behind the nine-member girl group with his second mini-album "Lucky Guy," ranking at the No. 2 spot on Oricon's weekly chart.

Girls' Generation, composed of members Taeyeon, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Sunny, Jessica, Seohyun, Yoona, Yuri and Sooyoung, have expanded their career into Japan in September last year and became the first Korean girl group to place No. 1 on Oricon’s chart as well as winning gold disc status several times.

They have also wrapped up their Japan tour and performed at the prestigious Summer Sonic Festival in August.

Kim, one of Korea's most popular stars in the Asia region, started on his solo singing career in Korea in June and promoted his releases overseas as well.

He recently signed with Japan's Universal Music and kicked off his eight-city Japan tour this week.
