Boy band Super Junior's Kim Heechul will enter the military on September 1, making him the second member of the group to leave the spotlight to fulfill the duty required of all Korean men.

The news came through a press release by his agency SM Entertainment early on Monday which also explained that Kim will receive four weeks of basic training at a training camp in Nonsan of the South Chungcheong Province and then serve as a public service worker for the 23 months that follow.

With Kim being a member of one of K-pop's most successful and popular boy bands around the world, the media and numerous fans will be interested in seeing the idol star head off to the military as is the case with most other popular celebrities.

Hundreds of fans and reporters gathered at the gates of Nonsan's training camp in early July of last year to see off Kang-in, the first member of Super Junior who entered the military.

However, Kim "wants to leave quietly" and therefore, will not hold a press conference on the day of his entrance, the statement added.

Until then, he will continue with all of his activities including promoting Super Junior's latest release "Mr. Simple" and hosting television shows "Golden Fishery - Radio Star" (MBC) and "Saturday Freedom - Secret."

Kim has been one of the most sought-out names in showbiz for his sense of humor and wittiness which has landed him numerous appearances in entertainment programs.

Kim, 28, first started out in the entertainment business with a role in KBS' teenage drama "Sharp 2" in 2005 and then began his singing career as one of the members to his popular boy band.

He is also part of one of the group's three units named Super Junior-T and earlier this year, formed a project duo named M&D (abbreviation of Midnight & Dawn) with TRAX member Jungmo.
