Singer Brian to make musical debut through “RENT”
Singer Brian has been cast in the musical “RENT” set to open in August.
In "RENT," which will mark Brian's debut in musicals, he will play Mark, the roommate to male lead Roger and also the narrator to the whole story.
“It requires a sense of leadership, humor and warmth to play Mark and Brian meets up to all those prerequisites,” explained Colleen Park, the producer of the upcoming musical, for her reason to cast him.
“RENT,” which is a modern-day adaptation of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “La Boheme,” is a rock musical that portrays the hopes, dreams and passion of young penniless artists living in East Village of New York City.
The show, set to take place at Chungmu Art Hall in Seoul, will raise its curtains on August 28 and run till October 9.
Brian, 30, whose real name is Joo Min-kyu, made his debut in 1999 through R&B duo Fly to the Sky who has released numerous albums including "Sea of Love," "Missing You" and "Gravity."
He pursued a solo singing career starting 2006 through which he released albums "The Brian," "Manifold" as well as soundtracks to dramas and variety show. His most recent release is EP album “Unveiled” that hit stores in early April.
