SBS TV series "Midas" sold overseas
SBS' TV series "Midas," starring Korean actors Jang Hyuk and Lee Min-jung, has been sold to several countries overseas, according to the broadcaster on Wednesday.
An official from SBS told 10Asia that "Midas" was sold to United States' online video streaming website Hulu.com, Hong Kong, Mongol and Vietnam.
“’Midas’ is currently being aired on Hulu.com for viewers in United States and its overseas territories,” she explained. “The show will also begin its run in Mongol this month while the premiere dates in Hong Kong and Vietnam have yet to be set."
The series, which aired for two months, was also pre-sold to Singapore and Malaysia ahead of its premiere in the country in mid-February.
"Midas," written by scenarist Choi Wan-kyu and helmed by Kang Shin-hyo and Lee Chang-min, tells the story of the rise and fall of an ambitious young lawmaker named Kim Do-hyun (Jang) whose greed for money and power ultimately leads to his doom against the backdrop of a conglomerate family whose children are fighting to become the successor to their father.
The drama had maintained steady viewership ratings in the 13 to 15 percent range, while ending its run on the top spot amongst other primetime competitors.
