Korean film “Sunny” stayed atop the weekend box office chart for the second consecutive week, according to the results shown on the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) on Monday.


"Sunny," currently being screened in 648 theaters, was named a winner after selling a total 616,400 tickets during the three-day period from May 13 to 15.

The film, starring Yoo Ho-jeong, Sim Eun-kyeong and Jin Hee-kyeong, that looks back at the youthful moment of seven girls in the 80s, starts with the story of a middle-aged woman Nami trying to get back in touch with her pals from 25 years ago.


French-American action flick “Source Code” also maintained its No. 2 position on the box office after drawing in 22,876 viewers to 433 theaters during the same period.

Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga, "Source Code" is about a soldier given the mission to find out the source of terrorist acts through future-oriented computer program Source Code that creates an alternate timeline allowing him to peek into the past through other people’s bodies who were at the scene.


Korean film “Officer of the Year” ascended a spot to land on third place, after bringing in 135,130 movie-goers in 400 theaters.


“Officer of the Year,” an action comedy starring Park Joong-hoon and Lee Sun-kyun, tells the story of two police officers who compete against each other to capture an infamous criminal to win the Office of the Year title, one for a promotion and the other for prize money.

Other films listed from fourth to tenth place on the box office were “Thor,” “Fast Five,” “3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy,” “A Chinese Ghost Story,” “Crayon Shin-chan: Super Dimension! The Storm Called My Bride,” “Meet The In-Laws” and “Inazuma Eleven 3: Challenge the World - The Ogre Kicks Off.”
