Kwon Sang-woo, Jung Ryeo-won cast as leads in new romance flick
Korean actors Kwon Sang-woo and Jung Ryeo-won have been cast as the leads in an upcoming romance movie.
"It is official that both Kwon and Jung have been selected to play the leads in the movie tentatively titled 'Pain,'" an official from the film's production company Chukje told 10Asia over the phone on Thursday. "The film will be helmed by famed director Kwak Kyung-taek and will crank in early this year."
"Pain," based on a comic series of the same name by artist Kangfull, tells of the love between a guy who who gets satisfaction out of scaring others by pretending to hurt himself, and a girl who is diagnosed with hemophilia.
Kwon has starred in several dramas and movies since his debut in 2001 and rose to stardom in Asia after playing the male lead in 2003 TV series "Stairway to Heaven."
His most recent works include war flick "71 Into the Fire" and SBS drama "The President" alongside actress Ko Hyun-jung.

Jung made her debut as one of the members of girl group Chakra in 2000 and left the group in 2004 to pursue an acting career. She has appeared in dramas such as "My Name is Kim Sam-soon" (MBC, 2005) and "Which Star Are You From?" (MBC, 2006) and films including "Two Faces Of My Girlfriend" (2007) and "Castaway On The Moon" (2009).
