Musical starring JYJ's Kim Junsu sold out 2nd time

Musical "Tears of Heaven" [Core Contents Media]

A second round of tickets that went on sale for musical “Tears of Heaven” starring singer and actor Kim Junsu have sold out, according to the show's promoter Core Contents Media today.

Core Contents announced through its press release Tuesday that tickets for a total 13,000 seats sold out in three and a half minutes today, not long after their recent sell-out of the first round of 15,000 tickets in five minutes.

Musical “Tears of Heaven,” where Kim will rotate the main lead role with actors Jung Sang-yoon and Jeon Dong-suk, is a big-scale local production participated by noted Broadway artists including Frank Wildhorn, the renowned composer of many musical pieces such as songs from “Dr. Jekyll and Hyde,” Gabriel Berry who produced film “Sweeney Todd (2008)” and America’s top musical star Brad Little as colonel Grayson.

Co-headed by local musical producer Seol & Company and Creative Production Co., a subsidiary of Core Contents Media, the play was prepared over a term of three and a half years.

In the play set in the times of Vietnam War (1946-1954), Kim will play the role of a Korean soldier who is dispatched to the Vietnam, only to fall head over heels in love with a Vietnamese singer and does everything in his power to help her.

The show will premiere at Main Hall Hae of the National Theater of Korea on February 1.

Kim, a former member of TVXQ, was one of the most popular dance groups in the K-pop scene whose other members were composed of Hero Jaejoong, Mickey Yuchun, Max Changmin and U-Know Yunho.

After suspending his activities with TVXQ over a legal conflict regarding their contract, he formed a three-member boy band named JYJ composed of Yuchun and Jaejung.
