"Smile, You" becomes 1st Korean drama to be re-made in India
TV series "Smile, You," starring Lee Min-jung and Choung Kyung-ho, will be the first Korean drama to be re-made in India, according to the show's distributor SBS Contents Hub on Wednesday.
SBS Contents Hub announced in a press release that during a content show titled "Rendez-vous Korea," hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency last week, India bought the rights to remake "Smile, You" which will air on India's Star TV.
"The younger generation in India has shown great interest in K-pop and Korean dramas," an official from SBS Contents Hub was quoted as saying. "It's inspiring to see how the remake of 'Smile, You' has made way for exchange between Korea and India."
"Smile, You," a 45-part series that ran for four months in Korea in 2009, tells the story of Seo Jung-in (played by Lee Min-jung), a daughter of a rich family that moves in with their chauffeur after being faced with a financial crisis.
