Matthew Goode in talks to play lead in Park Chan-wook's U.S. debut film
English actor Matthew Goode may star as the male lead for Korean auteur Park Chan-wook's first English-language film.
According to various international reports including U.S.' entertainment magazine Variety, Goode is in talks to take on the role of a mysterious uncle in the upcoming film titled "Stoker" which was originally to be played by Colin Firth.
"Stoker," written by U.S. TV series "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller, is about a teenage girl (played by Australian actress Mia Wasikowska) who encounters the mysterious uncle while mourning the death of her father.
The film's cast also includes Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman who will play the role of the mother.
Matthew Goode began his acting career in 2002 as Caspar in the TV series "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister." He well-known for his leading role in Hollywood film "Chasing Liberty (2004)" alongside Mandy Moore and has since appeared in movies "Brideshead Revisited (2008)," "Watchmen (2009)" and "Leap Year (2010)."

Park, well-known for handling dark and violent matters in his film, is one of the top filmmakers in the Korea and famous for his movies "Joint Security Area," the vengeance trilogy which consists of "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance," "Oldboy" and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance."
