Linkin Park to return to Korea for 3rd concert

American band Linkin Park will rock the stage for the third time in Korea this September.

A press release by Access Entertainment announced today that Linkin Park will perform in Korea as part of a world tour to promote their fourth album “A Thousand Suns” at the Gymnastics Stadium in Olympic Park in Seoul on September 8.

The band has already proved their ticket power in Korea, recording sellouts for their previous concerts in 2003 and 2007.

The band, which first formed in 1996, rose to fame with so-called 'hybrid rock' which combined punk, rock hip-hop and other genres of music into their work.

Their first album “Hybrid Theory” released in 2000 was a phenomenal success that sold over 50 million copies around the world with one of its singles “Crawling” fetching them a Grammy Award for best hard rock performance in 2002.

Their second album “Meteora” in 2003 also proved to be a big hit that sold over 20 million copies with some of its tracks such as “Somewhere I Belong” and “Faint” topping several music charts in Korea.

The group's second Grammy came in 2006 with "Numb/Encore" performed alongside rapper Jay-Z, recognized for the best rap/sung collaboration.

Meanwhile, the six-member band also produced “New Divide,” the theme song for the hit SF film “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” in 2009 which claimed No. 6 on Billboard’s singles chart.

Other soundtracks for the "Transformers" series can be found in the group's fourth album in which one of the tracks, titled “Iridescent,” is used for the upcoming third installation of the series “Transformers : Dark of the Moon” set for release this coming summer.

Linkin Park is currently composed of members Chester Bennington the vocalist, Rob Bourdon the drummer, Brad Delson the guitarist, David “Phoenix” Farrell the bass guitarist, Joe Hahn the keyboard player and Mike Shinoda the vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player.

Ticket reservations for the concert will available at online shopping mall Interpark starting May 19.
