Jay Park, f(x) rejoice win on weekend music shows
Jay Park who kicked off with his solo career last week, celebrated his first win on a televised music show aired on Friday while girl group f(x) rejoiced the same feat on another live music show on Sunday.
Park, the former leader of boy group 2PM who returned to the stage for the first time in two years, saw his song “Abandoned” top the K-pop chart of KBS’ weekly music program “Music Bank” last Friday after competing against girl group f(x)’s song “Danger.”
“Abandoned,” an R&B tune which combines fast and slow beats to express one's grief over abandoned love, is the title track to Park’s first mini-album “TAKE A DEEPER LOOK” released late last month.
In his acceptance speech, Park repeatedly thanked his fans and passed the honor to staff, AOMD, especially rapper Dok2 who did the featuring for “Abandoned."
Five-member group f(x), in the meantime claimed the winning trophy on SBS “Inkigayo” show aired two days later.
The group was named the winner of the top prize, known as Mutizen Award, with their song “Danger,” an electronic pop dance number with guitar sounds, from their first regular album “PINOCCHIO” that expresses a girl’s desire to know everything about her first crush, likening him to wooden puppet Pinocchio.
“We thank our fans and our parents so much for always watching and cheering for us,” said f(x) members in their acceptance speech while embracing each other with joy.
This is the song’s third win on TV show that follows their first win on KBS’ “Music Bank” two weeks ago and music cable channel Mnet’s live show “M! CountDown” last Thursday.
Other singers that appeared on both stages over the weekend included CNBLUE, 4minute, After School, Rainbow, SISTAR19, Eru, Dal★shabet, NS Yoonji, Untouchable and Kim Jong-min.
