Korean actress Bae Doo-na has been set to play one of the female leads in an upcoming movie whose working title is "Korea" alongside actress Ha Ji-won.

"She has been cast for the role and has been practicing for the film although she has not signed a contract yet because more details have yet to be set," an official from Barunson told 10Asia over the phone on Friday.

“Korea,” set to crank in next month and open in theaters during Korea's Thanksgiving holidays, is based on the true story of the world table tennis championship held in Chiba of Japan in 1991 where North Korean player Li Bun-hui (played by Bae) and South Korean player Hyun Jung-hwa (played by actress Ha Ji-won) overcome their difficulties and come together to defeat the unbeatable Chinese team.

Bae made her debut as a model in 1998 and has starred in numerous dramas and movies including the Korean blockbuster "The Host," "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and "Air Doll."

She has also appeared on the small screen with her roles in "Someday," "The Perfect Neighbor" and "Master of Study."

She recently starred in the MBC weekend family drama "Gloria," based on the lives of people who work at a nightclub, alongside Lee Chun-hee and Seo Ji-suk.
