Tae-yang's new single leaps straight to top

Big Bang member Tae-yang took the No. 1 spot on music charts Thursday afternoon, just hours after his new solo single was released.

"Where U At" stood atop real-time song charts on the websites of social networking portal Cyworld and music channel Mnet. His music video also received the most hits on Gom TV's real-time music video chart and over 100,000 hits on various websites.

The song, jointly composed by Tae-yang and Teddy, who has penned several of Big Bang and girl group 2NE1's hit songs, was released with its music video in the morning.

However, the singer will not promote the song in any way since it is only the prelude for Tae-yang's first regular solo album set for release in early November. He is set to promote the album with title song "Wedding Dress."

Tae-yang is a member of the popular five-member group -- composed also of G-Dragon, Dae-sung, TOP and Seung-ri -- which has seen continuous success with their music career since debuting in 2006.
