South Korean movie "Eighteen" has been invited to compete at the Vancouver International Film Festival which kicked off today, according to the film's distributor on Thursday.


The pic was nominated for the Dragons and Tigers Award, the only competition category of the 16-day film fest, said Jinjin Entertainment Film Co. in a press release.

"This movie is for the teenagers who are in love," director Jang Kun-jae was quoted saying about his first feature film about teenage romance which may be regarded as disobedience by adults.

Dragons and Tigers Programmer Tony Rayns complimented the movie saying, "The film also has some of the most classically beautiful mise en scene I've seen in quite a while and both the kids and the adults are very well directed."

The pic is set for release in South Korea within the first half of next year.
