Lee Seung-gi to join Asia Song Festival

Singer-actor Lee Seung-gi will take part in this year's Asia Song Festival (ASF), according to an official with the fest on Friday.

The official told 10Asia over the phone on Friday that Lee will join Korea's Super Junior and Girls' Generation, Japan's Perfume, Taiwan's Peter Ho, Hong Kong's Leo Ku, China's Zhou Bichang and Thailand's Tata Young for the show set for its eighth edition in the city of Daegu on October 15.

Of the reason for Lee appearing in the show, the official said, "Lee Seung-gi hasn't expanded his singing career overseas yet but his popularity is soaring in countries such as Japan due to series 'Shining Inheritance.'"

Also a popular show host in Korea, Lee, 24, has led a successful singing and acting career since his debut in 2004.

"Shining Inheritance" came to be dubbed a 'national drama' when during its showing during the first half of 2009, was the most-watched TV show in the country with its viewership ratings reaching 46 percent.

The series scored high ratings in other countries throughout Asia as well including Japan and Taiwan.
