Super Junior dominates Taiwanese music chart for 1 year

Super Junior’s song "BONAMANA" has ruled a major music chart in Taiwan for a year, making them the longest artist in the chart's history to stay No. 1.

According to a report by Taiwanese music chart KKBOX, “BONAMANA” topped the weekly Korean Music Top 100 Chart for the week of May 22 to 28, making it the 52nd week in-a-row that the title track to Super Junior's fourth regular album has held onto the title.

The song first appeared atop KKBOX's chart in June of last year, then called the Korea-Japan Top 100 chart, which was split into separate charts backed by the rising popularity of Korean music.

The boys had already enjoyed similar success with “Sorry Sorry” from their third album which dominated KKBOX’s music chart for Korean and Japanese music for 36 weeks in a row and another 34 weeks on the ezPeer Chart.

In the meantime, Super Junior’s sub unit Super Junior-M, focusing its activities in the Chinese market, is doing equally well in Taiwan as well with their second mini-album “Perfection” released in February which topped its top radio music chart “HIT FM HITO” among others.

The repackaged version of the record released two months later, too topped several music charts including FIVE MUSIC and of the major record chains of Kuang Nan and CCR.

Super Junior, often referred as "SuJu" in short by fans, made their debut in late 2005 and has been one of the most successful boy bands in the Asia region with numerous hit songs such as "Don't Don" and "Sorry, Sorry" under their belt.
