Korean film “Teamwork” wins top prize at LA film fest
Korean short film “Teamwork” has won the top prize at a film fest in Los Angeles held from April 28 to May 7.
The official website of the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival announced today that the 12-minute film helmed by director Hong Seo-yun won the Golden Reel Award amongst over 140 other short films.
A story of a heart-warming family moment, the pic shows a granny whispering something incomprehensible in her deathbed, leaving the whole family perplexed.
However, her granddaughter who was the only one that understood the meaning, silently reaches out to hold the granny’s hand as a sign of understanding and apology for they had a small squabble earlier.
Meanwhile, the festival presented the grand jury prize and outstanding director prize in category of documentary to "The House of Suh" directed by Korean-American helmer Iris K. Shim, whose film analyzes why a Korean immigrant family fails to adjust to life in the U.S. from a cultural and traditional standpoint.
