Jang Keun-suk chosen as spokesmodel for alcoholic beverage in Japan
Hallyu star Jang Keun-suk has been selected the spokesmodel for a Korean alcoholic beverage in Japan, according to his agency Tree J. Company on Thursday.
Tree J. announced in a press release that Jang was chosen as the new face of Korea's rice wine (makkoli) for Suntory, an alcoholic beverage company in Japan. The company also revealed a commercial of Jang talking about how to drink the beverage with his song "Bye Bye Bye" playing in the background.
"I feel that this a great opportunity to introduce the taste of Korea's rice wine to the people of Japan," Jang was quoted as saying. "I heard that many Japanese people enjoy drinking it and I hope that more people will too."
Jang made his debut in the entertainment business at the early age of five as a catalog model. His TV debut came in 1997 with the cable channel HBS’ sitcom “Happiness For Sale” and has since appeared in numerous dramas including youth sitcom “Non Stop 4” (MBC, 2004), historical drama “Hwang Jinny” (KBS, 2006).
He rose to super stardom in Korea and throughout Asia after starring in the SBS hit series "He's Beautiful" as the eccentric lead singer of the idol group A.N.JELL.
Jang was set to make his official singing debut in Japan with the release of his single album yesterday but postponed his activities due to the country being in distress after the massive earthquake which hit two weeks ago.
He recently returned to Korea after shooting a pictorial in Europe and is busy preparing for his upcoming Asia tour.
