Singer-actor Ryu Si-won becomes dad

Top Hallyu star Ryu Si-won became a dad yesterday, Ryu's agency R's Company announced on Friday.

A PR official at R's told 10Asia over the phone that Ryu's wife gave birth to a 2.8 kilogram baby girl at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at a hospital in Seoul.

The official said both the mother and newborn child are healthy and that Ryu is currently spending time with them.

Ryu, 38, married his six year younger wife last October after dating her for a year upon introduction by an acquaintance. They had planned to marry this spring but pulled up the date after finding out about the pregnancy.

Ryu made his debut in 1994, and has starred in various dramas including "Secret" (2000, MBC), "Beautiful Days" (2001, SBS) and "Style" (2009, SBS).

He has led a particularly successful career in Japan since debuting in the country six years ago, selling out all five of his concert tours held throughout the country.

He has also been both the director and racer of his own pro car racing team 'TEAM106,' he set up entertainment company 'abnormal106' and turned producer for singer Rottyful Sky

Most recently, he signed with top Japanese entertainment firm AVEX through which he is set to expand his singing career in Japan.
