Korean idol Kim Hyung-joon has signed with major recording company AVEX in Japan.

Kim's management firm in Korea, S-Plus Entertainment, announced through a press release on Sunday that through AVEX, Kim will begin his singing career in Japan and is scheduled to release his solo album in March.

"From now on, Kim will lead an active music career in both Korea and Japan. We know that he is the first SS501 member to have a set date on the release of his album in Japan and he recently began to put the final touches on the record," an official from S-Plus was quoted as saying.

"I am thrilled to be working with AVEX. It is a great way to start off the New Year and I am already looking forward to the upcoming events," Kim was quoted as saying.

Kim made his debut as one of the members of the popular boy band SS501 in 2005. The group produced several hit songs such as "Warning," "My Girl" and "Love Ya."
