Korean pop group Girls' Generation topped the year-end K-Chart of KBS music show "Music Bank" to become the best group of 2009.

The girl band won the title over other prominent idol groups including 2NE1 and Super Junior on the show, which aired on Christmas Day.

"We would like to thank all the members, the fans and Mr. Lee Soo-man," the group said in their acceptance speech. "We will continue to work harder."

Girls' Generation is one of South Korea's most popular pop groups who had back-to-back hits this year with singles "Gee" and "Tell Me Your Wish". Their first mini-album "Gee" was a smash hit, topping the show's K-Chart for nine consecutive weeks, from January 13 thru March 13.

The group also won several awards at the 2009 Melon Music Awards and the 24th Golden Disk Awards.
