Hollywood movie "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" has attracted over one million viewers in Korea within its first week of release, according to a press release by local distributor Pan Cinema.


As of Tuesday morning, the vampire flick drew in a total of 1,048,195 viewers, showing on 477 screens in the country. It took "Twilight", the first movie of the vampire series, 12 days to breach the one million viewer mark last year.

In addition, "New Moon" is topping ticket reservation charts on various Internet websites, according to statistics posted on the KOFIC (Korean Film Council) electronic network.

As of Wednesday morning, the real-time ticket reservation rate for "Moon" stood at 22.9 percent on KOFIC, 19.85 percent on Maxmovie, 34 percent on CGV, 20.40 percent on Nate and 25.83 on Ticketlink, surpassing the figures for another Hollywood blockbuster "2012" which has topped the Korean box office for three consecutive weeks.

"New Moon", which is based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer, stars actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
