Korean Wave star Kim Sun-A has topped a popularity poll in Japan, according to her agency on Wednesday.


The 33-year-old actress recently topped an online poll on www.lala.tv, conducted by a cable channel, asking viewers to pick their favorite Korean actress, Yedang Entertainment said in a press release.

Kim came in first taking 35 percent of the vote, while actresses Song Hye-kyo and Son Ye-jin followed with 18 percent and 15 percent, respectively. Other contenders in the poll were Hallyu stars Lee Young-ae, Ha Ji-won and Choi Ji-woo.


"I am always grateful for the attention and love from fans in Japan," the actress was quoted as saying. "I will do my best to meet you more often with various movies and dramas and improved characters."

The actress, who grew up in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese, is best known for her comedic role in hit MBC TV series "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon"(2005).


She appeared in SBS drama "City Hall" earlier this year, playing a low-level government employee from the countryside who eventually becomes the mayor.
