Korean director Jeon Kyu-hwan's feature "Dance Town" will compete at upcoming international film festivals in Belgium and in Dallas this month, according to the websites of the respective fests on Friday.


According to the website of the Belgium Cinematek, "Dance Town" will be competing against 22 international films including "Jean Gentil," "Our Grand Despair," "Absent" and Korean film "Journals of Musan" during the fest held at the Palace of Fine Arts in Belgium starting from today till July 14.

"Dance Town" will then be in competition for the top prize at the 2011 Dallas Film Festival held in Dallas, Texas from July 14 to 21.


The film, a part of Jeon's "Town" series, tells the story of a North Korean woman named Rhee Jung-nim (played by actress Ra Mi-ran) who escapes to South Korea after taking part in a police investigation against her husband who has been smuggling goods to North Korea.

It continues to show the trouble and turmoil that Rhee goes through in adjusting to her new life in a country that is not suppressed by politics.
