Taeyang thanks fans for birthday wishes

Korean idol Taeyang of boy band Big Bang has thanked his fans for congratulating him on his birthday.

A video message from Taeyang, whose birthday is on May 18, was uploaded onto his official YouTube channel yesterday saying, "The reason why I'm sending you this video message is that today is my 24th BIRTHDAY!!! Please congratulate me and I would like to tell you that I always thank you for the love and support you've been giving me. I appreciate you all for it."

He ended the video by thanking his fans, "I will see all of you once again through our music and stage. Thank you for your support. Thank you! PEACE!"

The singer also posted a comment on his official Twitter account saying, "thank you for congratulating me. i'm turning into 23 (American age) and i'm getting worried a bit ;) haha. Time sure goes by real fast..Thanks to all the fans for their continuous support and love!! I miss you~I will see you once the tour is over! Love you! ;)"

Big Bang is currently on their promotional concert tour titled "Love&Hope" which kicked off in Osaka last week which was followed by performances in China and Nagoya.

Born Dong Young-bae, Taeyang is the first Big Bang member to debut as a solo artist, producing several hit songs including "Prayer," "Look Only At Me" and "Wedding Dress." He released his first full-length album "Solar" in July 2010 which topped various online and offline music sites.

As a group, Big Bang has released several albums and hit songs such as "Lies" and "Haru Haru" since their debut in the K-pop scene in 2006.

The group then crossed over into the Japanese music market in June 2009 with their debut single "My Heaven" which reached No. 3 on the prestigious Oricon daily singles chart and they toured three cities in the country which attracted a total of 60,000 fans.

They recently scored the No. 1 spot on Oricon's weekly chart with their second Japanese album 『BIGBANG 2』, which went on sale in the country on May 11, making them the third Korean and Asian artist to achieve the feat.
