First lineup of 2011 Jisan Valley Rock Festival revealed
The first lineup of artists set to attend the 2011 Jisan Valley Rock Festival has been unveiled, according to the official website of the music fest on Wednesday.
The webpage revealed that internationally popular musicians British electronica duo The Chemical Brothers, English alternative rock band Suede and The Music, musical duo Amadou & Mariam and alternative rock trio Feeder will be performing at the rock festival to be held for three days from July 29.
Local artists slated to take the stage for the fest include rock group Clash, Apollo 18 and 10cm, while the second lineup will be announced later this month.
The Chemical Brothers, composed of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, are known as the pioneers of their big beat electronic genre and achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s. Some of their mega-hits include "Dig Your Own Hole," "Block Rocking' Beats" and "Setting Sun" from their second album in 1997.
Making their debut in 1993 with their self-titled album, Suede rose to the top of the charts and soon became a household name for their glam rock inspired songs. The group disbanded in 2003 after their album "Singles" and reformed seven years later for a series of concerts.
The Music is an alternative rock band from Kippax, Leeds, comprising Robert Harvey (vocals, guitar), Adam Nutter (lead guitar), Stuart Coleman (bass) and Phil Jordan (drums). To date, the band has released three studio albums, one compilation album and two live DVD's.
Known as "the blind couple from Mali," Amadou & Mariam have produced music that mixes the traditional Mali sound with other international musical elements.
Feeder first formed in 1991 in Newport, wales and released their debut EP "Two Colours" and second EP "Swim." They released their first full-length album "Polythene" in 1997 and is known as one of the most charted acts of all-time with a total of 20 top 40 singles under their belt.
