Younha says "failed at auditions" like character in upcoming film

Songstress Younha has said she has failed at numerous auditions before, just like her character in an upcoming movie through which she will make her big screen debut in Korea.

She made the remark in Seoul on Wednesday at a press conference for the film "Suicide Forecast" while speaking about her lead role as Soo-yeon, an aspiring singer who is cut from every audition she goes to while trying to escape loan sharks by running away to various places with her sister.

"I know something about failing auditions...... I once failed about 20 times for auditions before making my debut," Younha said.

She also added, "It was difficult trying to find the right tone of voice to act in because I had to portray someone who has a harsh attitude from having lived a hard life. I had to try to pull out the harshness I may have within me so I'm hoping to get the opportunity to play a bright and cheerful character next time."

Set to open in local theaters in April, "Suicide Forecast" tells the story of a former baseball player named Byung-woo (played by actor Ryoo Seung-bum) who begins working at an insurance company that struggles to help his clients to receive their insurance compensation.

Having made her debut in 2004 in Japan, Younha earned the nickname 'Oricon comet' after becoming the second Korean artist after BoA to penetrate the top 20 spots on the prestigious Oricon chart.

The singer-songwriter has dominated local music charts as well with her hit songs "Password 486," "Comet" and "Telepathy."
