2NE1 to perform on music program in Japan
Korean female idols 2NE1 will fly into Japan next week to take part in a music program ahead of their official debut in the country, according to their agency YG Entertainment on Thursday.
"The girls will be leaving the country for Japan on March 9 and give their first performance in the country on March 11, singing their debut song 'GO AWAY' on Asahi TV's music program 'Music Station,'" a PR official from YG told 10Asia over the phone.
Other Korean artists that have performed on "Music Station" include Girls' Generation, TVXQ and KARA.
The quartet has been gearing up for the launch of their singing debut in Japan after signing with major recording company AVEX. They will also release the Japanese version of "GO AWAY" on Japan's mobile website Recochoku on March 9 followed by the release of their album on March 16.
2NE1 has been one of the most popular girl groups in the country since their debut in May 2009. They have a number of hit songs including "Try to Follow Me," "I Don't Care" and "Fire."
The girls released their first full-length album "To Anyone" last year which topped numerous music charts with title tracks "GO AWAY," "CLAP YOUR HANDS" and "CAN'T NOBODY" promoted simultaneously.
They are also preparing for their official debut into the pop market in the United States with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.
