Actress Choi Ji-woo will make a guest appearance in a weekly Japanese drama set to go on air starting next Sunday.

According to Japanese daily paper Nikkan Sports and other entertainment outlets in Japan, Choi will guest star in the new series titled “Winter Cherry Blossoms” (冬のサクラ) starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, a member of one of Japan’s most popular bands SMAP, and actress Imai Miki.

Choi will appear in the first to third episode of the love story between a man who never fell in love and a woman who lost her memory due to an accident.

The report said that Choi decided to appear in the drama due to her friendship with Kusanagi whom she came to know during Fuji TV’s variety show “SMAP×SMAP.”

The drama is also the first Japanese drama in five years that Choi is taking part in since TBS series “RONDO” which was broadcasted from January to March 2006.

“It’s been a while since I did Japanese drama but I think I'll be able to handle the Japanese,” Choi reportedly said during a shoot for the drama where she plays a woman Kusanagi meets by chance.

Kusanagi in response, is said to have promised to return the favor by appearing in Choi’s next drama, adding that he enjoyed working with Choi.
