GNGWC 2009 gathers top online gamers to Korea

The Grand Final of online game competition Game&Game World Championship (GNGWC 2009) ended its three-day run successfully last week, gathering some of the world’s best gamers to the event held at the port city of Busan in South Korea.

The finals, hosted as the main event of international game festival G★STAR 2009, took place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) starting November 26.

The final day of the games singled out the world champions for three Korean games -- Andre Gernot Weck and Alexander Dolderer from Germany for “Silkroad Online”, Cho Won-cheol from Korea for “Shot Online” who took his second consecutive win and Robin Swan from the United States for “Atlantica.”

The GNGWC 2009 had originally taken off in July with the European Regional Finals in Leipzig, Germany and had continued on to Regional Finals in 11 nations including the U.S., Brazil, Japan, Korea and China. 50 players who passed the Regional rounds moved up into the Grand Finals.

The event, now into its fourth year, is hosted by Korea Creative Content Agency to promote Korean online games.
