UIE-starrer series "Birdie Buddy" pre-sold to 9 countries
TV series "Birdie Buddy" starring After School member UIE and actor Lee Yong-woo, has been sold to nine countries ahead of its premiere, according to the show's production company Group 8 on Wednesday.
"Japan, the U.S., Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia and Laos have purchased rights for the show even before a date for its airing in Korea got set, while more negotiations are underway," an official at Group 8, the famed producers of hit Korean series "Boys Over Flowers," told 10Asia over the phone.
"Birdie," which was filmed for a year starting last March, recently got allotted a time slot on cable channel tvN and is set to go on air starting August 8, following current series "In Need of Romance" starring singer-actor Kim Jeong-hoon.
Based on a presidential award-winning comic series of the same name by Lee Hyun-sae, "Birdie" is about the world of female golfers.
