"Miss Ripley" pre-sold to Japan

Upcoming singer-actor Park Yuchun starrer "Miss Ripley" has been sold to Japan ahead of its premiere in Korea at the end of this month.

An official with the drama's promoter 3HW Communications delivered the news to 10Asia over the phone on Wednesday although declining to reveal the purchaser. She also added that the date for the show's run in Japan has yet to be set.

Pre-selling of "Miss Ripley" overseas was expected, particularly with its main cast including Park, currently a member of singing trio JYJ which broke off from boy band TVXQ, one of the most successful K-pop groups in the Asia region.

The show also stars actress Lee Da-hae, another popular Korean celebrity in Asia as well as top movie stars Kim Seung-woo and Kang Hye-jung.

"Miss Ripley," a conventional melodrama telling of people's desires and love hidden behind the fancy success and failure of these four main characters.

Park will play the heir to the owner of a top resort, Lee a woman named Jang Miri who starts living a fake life for success after being tired of facing obstacles to life due to her background, Kim an elite hotelier in his 40s who falls for the 20-something Jang and Kang a woman who was friends with Jang when they were at an orphanage when young and later has a crush on Park's character.

The show will run in the Monday and Tuesday primetime slot starting May 30, after current series "The Duo" ends its run.
