Han Ji-hye invited to top Japanese fashion event

Actress Han Ji-hye has been invited to Japan’s biggest fashion show held in China this year, revealed her agency WAYZ Company on Friday.

WAYZ explained through its press release that Han will attend the “TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION (TCG) IN BEIJING 2011” which will take place in Beijing on May 7.

Han is currently heightening her presence in China through various activities including CCTV’s ongoing TV series “天堂?” (translated into “Paradise Embroidery”) in which she stars opposite Chinese actor Lu Yi.

In the drama, a 26-part series, Han plays genius Korean embroidery designer Chun Chae-hee who comes to China in search of her mother.

Other Korean celebrities who will join Han at the fashion event include actor Park Hae-jin who will be the first male to walk its runway and actress Park Shin-hye, the female lead of the 2009 mega-hit drama “He’s Beautiful.”

TGC, one of the most prestigious biannual fashion events in Japan, is expected to be much larger in scale this year, with the stage taken outside Japan and having invited actors and entertainers from the countries of China, Japan and Korea.

The fest, having showcased casual street clothes on its stage, has been a hit for a long time, attracting over 30,000 audience the previous year alone.

Born Lee Ji-hye, Han made her debut as a supermodel in 2001 and has since appeared in many dramas such as “Summer Scent (2003),” “Sweet 18 (2004),” and “East of Eden (2008)" and films “My Boyfriend in Type B (2005)” and “Blades of Blood (2010)”

In early March, she was named a promotional ambassador for French films in Korea and is currently starring in MBC historical drama “The Duo” alongside actors Chun Jung-myung and Lee Sang-yoon that airs on the primetime slot on Mondays and Tuesdays.
