Hip-hop artist Crown J has been indicted in just less than two weeks of receiving a suspended jail term for smoking marijuana, this time on charges of assault and coercion.
The Seoul Central Prosecutors' Office said Tuesday that Crown J and three others have been charged of assaulting Crown J's former manager, identified only by his last name Suh, and forcing him to turn over his yacht.
Crown J had made the move because Suh failed to repay a bank loan of around 200 million won he had received, under guarantee of Crown J, to set up a talent agency, prosecutors said.
Nonetheless, prosecutors recognized the offense based on a diagnosis on his injuries, testimony by a testifier saying that he saw the injury on Suh when he handed over yacht-related documents and Suh having been consistent with his claims.
However, on June 9, a court handed him an eight-month jail term suspended by two years, along with 80 hours of community service and a 7,500 won fine for smoking marijuana in the U.S.
