Park Hae-jin to give away award at drama festival in China

Actor Park Hae-jin will be first celebrity from overseas to present an award at a Chinese drama festival set for tomorrow, revealed his agency W.M. Company on Wednesday.

According to a press release by W.M., Park was chosen as the first foreigner to hand out an award at the 2011 Internet TV Spring Festival, a drama festival that determines winners solely through popular votes, set to take place in Beijing tomorrow.

At the event, Park will present the prize in the category for best female actress, alongside Chinese actress Tamia Liu.

Liu was the female lead in Internet drama “Qian Duo Duo Jia Ren Ji,” ("A marriage record of Qian Duo Duo") which is currently being adapted for the small screen and is set to star Park and actress Li Xiao Ran.

The drama, which is the love story between a businessman from Korea and an ambitious Chinese career woman, is a co-production of a Chinese film company and Korean public broadcaster MBC, expected to go on air in China around November of this year and show on a satellite channel in Korea later on.

Park, 27, became a household name in Korea for his debut role in "Famous Princesses" (KBS, 2006) and has since starred in various dramas including "Like Land and Sky," (KBS, 2007) "East of Eden," (MBC, 2008) and "Hot Blood" (KBS, 2009).

He gained recognition in China, again for Famous Princess,” which was later aired in the Hunan province in 2009 and placed him in various top slots of polls on favorite actors on the mainland as well leading him to become the model for local fashion clothing company LIVEX.

He will also appear on the runway of Japanese fashion show “TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION (TGC) IN BEIJING 2011” set to take place in Beijing this Saturday, making him the first male to ever take part in the event.
