MTV-Daum Music Fest to open on Feb 19

Global music entertainment channel MTV and Korea’s major web portal Daum Communications will co-host a music festival starring the most popular K-pop stars next Saturday, notified MTV on Thursday.

According to a press release by MTV, the upcoming “MTV-Daum Music Fest” will be held at the Hwajeong Gymnasium in Korea University on February 19 with the aim of promoting K-pop to the world and bringing nine Asian countries together through music.

The festival will feature some ten famed K-pop artists including 2AM, MBLAQ, f(x) and Supreme Team who have been chosen the most popular singers of different categories based on the number of searches they received on Daum.

Actor Kim Min-joon, also known as Vesper MJ, will emcee the event that will also feature special performances by top Korean stars under themes of 'dynamic,' 'alternative' and 'unique.'

MTV and Daum will also hold an event that will allow fans to request artists to sing songs and fulfill other special missions on the show via Daum’s SNS service “Yozm” and “Music."

The concert will be broadcast to a number of countries in Asia including China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore.
