"Sector 7" opens at No. 1 spot on local box office
Korean sci-fi pic "Sector 7" opened on a high note, becoming the country's most-watched film over the weekend.
Numbers by the Korean Box Office System (KOBIS) released on Monday showed that "Sector 7," starring Ha Ji-won. Ahn Sung-ki and Oh Ji-ho, attracted 1,154,158 moviegoers during the weekend of August 5 to 7.
"Sector 7," which opened in local theaters on August 4, tells the story of people fighting against a monster on board an oil prospecting ship. The movie, helmed by Kim Ji-hoon, was sold to 46 countries including France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Korean action comedy "Quick," featuring Lee Min-ki and Kang Yea-won, maintained its position in second place with 368,156 admissions and former winner "The Frontline," starring Ko Soo and Shin Ha-kyun, slipped down two spots to No. 3 with 329,409 tickets sold.
Korean animation "Leafie, A Hen Into the Wild" moved up one slot to fourth place after selling 250,433 tickets and Japanese anime "Detective Conan: Quarter Of Silence" entered the chart at No. 5 with 223,263 admits.

Other features on the top ten include "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2," "Rio," "Arrow The Ultimate Weapon," "Ghastly" and "Captain America: The First Avenger."
