New dramas on SBS and MBC took off to a promising start, claiming first and second place, respectively, on the Wednesday’s and Thursday’s primetime chart.


SBS series “Sign,” a medical drama starring Park Shin-yang, Kim A-joong and Jeon Gwang-ryeol, posted an average viewership rating of 14.6 percent on a survey by Total National Media Research (TNmS) and 16.9 percent on a poll by AGB Nielsen Media Research, landing on the top spot on both TV charts.

“Sign” tells of genius forensic medical examiner Yoon Ji-hoon who tries to solve various cases of mysterious death mainly through the means of forensic medicine while Jeon plays his rival and Kim A-joong, a rookie in the institute.


Arriving next on the chart was MBC series “My Princess,” another start-up show for this week which reported an average viewership rating of 13.6 percent according to TNmS' data and 16.7 percent on AGB’s statistics.

“My Princess,” a romantic comedy starring Kim Tae-hee and Song Seung-heon, is about an ordinary college girl Lee Seul (Kim), also an adoptee, who finds out she was the lost descendant of King Soon-jong of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Song plays Park Hae-young, a young diplomat who is given the mission to train the princess before she assumes her true position.


KBS series “PRESIDENT” starring Choi Soo-jong, Ha Hee-ra and Jay from idol group Trax, marked an average viewership rating of 7 percent on TNmS' chart, a slight improvement from last week but falling short of catching up with the newcomers.


In contrast, the series yielded an average rating of 8.3 percent, down from last week’s 9.9 percent, on AGB’s poll.

The show depicts on how a president is born through the process of various election campaigns launched by ambitious lawmaker Jang Il-joon (Choi), his family and staff members surrounding him.
