f(x) Luna cast as female lead in musical "Coyote Ugly"
Luna from K-pop idol group f(x) has been cast as the female lead in the world's first-ever musical adaptation of hit Hollywood film "Coyote Ugly," according to the production's producer Global Kids on Thursday.
Global Kids announced in a press release that Luna will play the lead role of Violet Sanford in "Coyote Ugly" which will run at the KEPCO Art Center in Seoul from July 8 to August 15, while the role will be rotated by Gavy nj member Jang Hee-young and musical actress Yoo Ha-na.
The male lead role of Andy will be played by Yoon Hyuk and DK from duo December and musical actor Kim Soo-yong.
"Coyote Ugly" is based on the 2000 film of the same name starring Piper Perabo, Adam Garcia and John Goodman.
It tells the story of Violet who moves to New York City to fulfill her dream of becoming a songwriter. She then begins working at a bar called Coyote Ugly to earn extra money where she learns to sing, dance and perform and later gets over her stage freight to become a songwriter.
Luna made her debut as one of the lead vocalists for girl group f(x) in 2009. Composed of other members Victoria, Sulli, Krystal and Amber, f(x) has produced a number of hit songs including “LA chA TA" and "NU ABO."

She had made her musical debut as Elle Woods in the production of "Legally Blonde" and is currently in Paris for the "SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in PARIS," which will take place on June 10 and 11, with fellow SM Entertainment labelmates.
