Korean girl group T-ara has claimed the top spot on Oricon's weekly singles chart with their debut release, according to their agency Core Contents Media on Tuesday.
Core Contents announced in a press release that T-ara's "Bo Peep Bo Peep" sold about 50,000 copies since going on sale in the country on September 28 to place atop Oricon's weekly singles chart, making them the first foreign group and female artists to reach the weekly No. 1 spot with their debut single.
Just ahead of the album's release, T-ara held their first showcase at the Shibuya-AX concert hall in Tokyo and released the music video for "Bo Peep Bo Peep."
T-ara, composed of members Hyomin, Boram, Eunjung, Jiyeon, Soyeon, Qri and Hwa-young, made their debut in July 2009 with singles "Lie" and "Wanna Play."
The girls are gearing up for their comeback to the local music scene on November 1.
