Maroon 5 coming to Korea for a concert in late May
American rock band Maroon 5 is coming to Korea for a two-day concert, according to the show’s organizer Hyundai Card on Wednesday.
In a press release, Hyundai Card explained that the five-member rock group will perform in Korea's capital Seoul and second-largest city Busan at their upcoming concert titled “HYUNDAICARD SUPER CONCERT 14 - Maroon 5 Live In SEOUL & BUSAN” on May 25 and 26, respectively, to promote their third album "Hands All Over" released in September of last year.
"Maroon 5 is currently one of the hottest rock bands in the world with many fans in Korea as well. This will be a special opportunity through which fans will get to hear their music in person and the concert in Busan in particular will be a great present for the people there who rarely come in contact with global artists," an official at Hyundai Card was quoted as saying.
This will be Maroon 5's second time performing in the country after March 2008 and the first of artists featured in Hyundai Card's "SUPER CONCERT" series, which has featured a string of global performers including Stevie Wonder, Sting, Beyonce and Placido Domingo, to perform in Busan.
Maroon 5 first formed under the name Kara’s Flowers back in high school and debuted with album “The Fourth World” in 1997.
The group disbanded for college after failing to gain popularity but later came together once again under the name Maroon 5 which rose to recognition with their first album “Songs About Jane” (2002) that included hit songs “This Love” and “She Will Be Loved.”
Their second album “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” (2007) also proved to be a big hit, sweeping the charts of United States, United Kingdom, France Australia and other countries.
The band has sold a combined 15 million copies of their first two regular albums, won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005 and then two more for Best Pop Performance by A Duo or Group With Vocal two years in-a-row with songs “This Love” in 2006 and “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” in 2007.
