An man in his 80s was arrested by the police for forcing his wife to vote for a specific candidate and party at an early voting station in Ulsan and assaulting an election official who tried to stop him.
On the 5th, the Jungbu Police Station in Ulsan announced that they had detained an 80-year-old man, Mr. A, on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and are currently investigating him.
Mr. A is accused of supporting his physically impaired wife and entering the voting booth together at the early voting station inside the Ujeong-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Jung-gu around 1:10 p.m. that day, telling her to mark a specific number.
He is also reported to have grabbed an election official who tried to restrain him and retrieve the ballot paper, shouting at them.
