Science Becomes a Playground... National Science Museum's 'Science Day' Opens on the 17th
54 Hands-On Booths on AI and the Climate Crisis
A Three-Day Science Festival for the Whole Family
In April, the Month of Science, the National Science Museum is opening a large-scale, hands-on science playground festival for the whole family to enjoy together. 'Science Day,' which presents the somewhat challenging themes of artificial intelligence (AI) and the climate crisis through robots, games, and mission-based activities, will be held across the National Science Museum in Daejeon for three days from April 17 to April 19, 2026.
The National Science Museum announced that the 55th Science Day will be held under the subtitle "Eco Hero Project: Save the Earth!" This year's event is characterized as an experiential festival with storytelling elements, where participants become 'Eco Heroes' who solve social issues through science and technology.
The core of the festival is the 54 hands-on booths, where visitors can learn by making and operating things themselves. In the Special Exhibition Hall of the Future Technology Pavilion and the outdoor spaces, a variety of programs will be offered—including building a smart farm with an automatic watering system, experiencing smart city robots, and exploring coding robots with LEGO—organized by students, public institutions, and companies from across the nation. Visitors will be able to experience AI technology and carbon reduction ideas through play and naturally learn scientific principles.
Exhibition Hall Missions, Quiz Shows, Bubble Shows... An Immersive Science Festival
During the festival period, major exhibition halls such as the Natural History Hall, the Hall of Humanity, the Hall of the History of Science and Technology in Korea, and the Physics Lab will host exploration events where participants carry mission sheets to complete challenges. By solving problems based on the exhibition content, children will naturally develop scientific thinking and problem-solving skills.
In the Science Hall, a science survival quiz show for elementary school students will be held six times in total. In the outdoor plaza, families can enjoy programs such as the Carbon Zero Landing Mission Paper Airplane, a bicycle-powered electricity activity, and a recycling basketball game.
In addition, the festival will offer science performances, bubble shows, food trucks, and flea markets, creating an immersive scientific cultural event where visitors can not only participate in hands-on activities but also spend the entire day learning and relaxing.
