Police Expanding Investigation into Distribution Channels and Suppliers
A man in his 20s has been apprehended by police in Gwangju on suspicion of drug use at a local accommodation facility.
On April 21, the Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced that it had booked a man in his 20s, referred to as Mr. A, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act for allegedly using drugs at a lodging facility, and is currently investigating the case.
Mr. A, an office worker, is suspected of repeatedly using methamphetamine at various accommodations in the Sinan-dong area of Buk-gu, Gwangju, from March 4 until recently.
According to the investigation, Mr. A contacted a drug dealer via the social media platform Telegram and purchased methamphetamine for his own use. So far, there is no evidence to suggest that he resold the drugs.
After receiving a tip-off related to drug use, the police launched an investigation and apprehended Mr. A the previous day. A preliminary drug reagent test conducted immediately after his arrest returned a positive result for drugs.
