Crayon Lowers Barriers to Volunteering
"Will Take the Lead in Creating a Sustainable Volunteer Ecosystem"
The creator volunteer group "Crayon" (Co-CEOs Kim Chae-rim and Kim Gwang-tae) successfully concluded a volunteer activity for stray dog protection on April 18, in collaboration with "Shorttu" (CEO Yoon Sang-su), a global short-form partner, as part of Shorttu's social contribution project "Shorttabong." By encouraging direct participation from creators, the event aims to raise awareness about stray dog protection and contribute to the spread of a responsible pet ownership culture.
This volunteer work was conducted in connection with Shorttu's "Shorttabong" project at the "Rainbow Shelter," a stray dog shelter operated by the nonprofit organization Korean Dogs in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. "Shorttabong" stands for "Shorttu's warm-hearted volunteer work," and it is a social contribution project promoted by Shorttu together with its employees and affiliated creators. According to Crayon, the organization has officially carried out 28 volunteer activities over the past two years to help stray dogs, including protection and adoption support. "We are providing practical support and stable care for stray dogs in need of help," a Crayon official said.
Following last year, Crayon is continuing its efforts to protect stray dogs in 2026 as well. On the day of the event, a total of 12 volunteers, including six renowned creators—Gyangmaesil, Kim Gwang-tae, Mwohae Yoonji, Baengki, Chaerimcheoreom, and Choi Euna—participated in cleaning kennels, maintaining shelter facilities, and engaging in emotional bonding activities to help stabilize the rescued dogs. One participant stated, "I visited the shelter with the hope that the value of respecting life would become more widespread," and added, "As a member of Crayon, I plan to expand my interest and participation beyond stray animal protection to various areas in need of support."
In addition to stray dog protection, Crayon continues to carry out a variety of social contribution activities. Notable examples include a meal-sharing volunteer event for seniors living alone in partnership with the nonprofit Korea Legacy Committee (KLC), plogging activities with fans, coal briquette delivery, food support, and donating cherished items to support independence patriots. Crayon is broadening the scope of support in multiple ways, from on-site participation with creators to providing sponsorships.
Now in its third year since its founding, Crayon is focused on creating an environment where anyone can easily begin social contribution activities. Under the slogan "Would you like to volunteer with creators?", Crayon is lowering the barriers to volunteering by encouraging fan participation. In fact, more than half of the participants in its activities reported that they first experienced volunteer work through Crayon. Crayon plans to leverage the influence of its active creators to further spread positive impact. The official Crayon Instagram channel currently has about 6,000 followers, and the total number of followers for all participating creators exceeds 23 million.
