Hyundai Unveils Ioniq 3 Globally in Milan: Compact Hatchback Targeted at European Market
Aero Hatch Design Maximizes Aerodynamic Efficiency and Interior Space
Equipped with Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP, Delivers up to 496km Range on European WLTP Standard
On April 20 (local time), Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its next-generation electric vehicle, the Ioniq 3, for the first time in the world at the 2026 Milan Design Week, a global design event held in Milan, Italy. This move is aimed at accelerating the transition to electrification in the European market.
The Ioniq 3 is the latest model in Hyundai's dedicated electric vehicle brand, the Ioniq lineup. It is a compact hatchback designed exclusively for the European market, prepared to enable more people to experience advanced electrification in their daily lives.
The Ioniq 3 features: ▲An aero hatch design that achieves both aerodynamic efficiency and ample interior space ▲Performance optimized for European driving conditions based on the E-GMP platform ▲Top-tier driving assistance systems, among others.
The exterior of the Ioniq 3 boasts a new aero hatch silhouette, with a smooth flow from the front to the roofline and rear spoiler, achieving an impressive drag coefficient of 0.263.
Hyundai Motor Company's design philosophy, "Art of Steel," inspired by the iron processing process, is reflected in the car's clean, refined surfaces. Parametric pixel lighting and four dots in Morse code representing the letter 'H' complete the brand's identity.
Inside, Hyundai has applied the "Furnished Space" approach, arranging the space much like placing furniture, to create a warm and intuitive living area within the compact body of the Ioniq 3.
Additionally, the relatively long wheelbase of 2,680 mm and flat floor layout deliver a spacious interior that exceeds its class. The addition of a 119-liter "Megabox" beneath the trunk increases total cargo capacity to a class-leading 441 liters.
The Ioniq 3 was developed on Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle platform, E-GMP, and is equipped with a 61 kWh battery, which is expected to provide a maximum driving range of 496 km on a single charge. This range applies to the long-range model based on the European WLTP standard.
For the first time among Hyundai's European models, the Ioniq 3 comes with Pleos Connect, a next-generation infotainment system based on the Android Automotive OS (AAOS). It also features advanced amenities such as the Hyundai Digital Key 2, Plug & Charge, and both interior and exterior V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functions.
In addition, the car is equipped with the latest SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), and Memory Reverse Assist (MRA), to provide customers with a comfortable and safe driving experience.
