As tensions between the United States and China intensify, Tesla has reportedly formalized a de facto "de-China" sourcing strategy for electric vehicles produced at its U.S. factories. This move appears to be driven by repeated fluctuations in tariffs and ongoing instability in the parts supply chain, prompting the company to gradually reduce its reliance on Chinese-made components. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing multiple sources on November 15 (local time), reported that Tesla issued a directive to its partners earlier this year instructing them not to use Chinese-made parts in vehicles manufactured in the United States. Some key components have already been replaced with parts sourced from other countries, and the company is said to have set a goal of completely eliminating Chinese-made components from U.S. market models within one to two years.
